Software engineering is a truly global activity that concerns building and maintaining software systems and other computer-based solutions. This degree gives you a specialized education in software engineering that will impress future employers by looking at every aspect of the process, from the first comprehension of the problem to be solved through analysis, design, and development to testing, documentation, and maintenance.
Coursework throughout the course utilizes realistic scenarios intended to prepare students for their careers after university. This applies both to the technical areas studied, but also the output required from the student such as technical proposals or reports to management. Much of the coursework undertaken by students is project-based and often involves group work. The ability to work successfully and productively in teams is an essential element of modern software engineering. Many of the graduates find successful careers in this lucrative area of employment.
As a result of being an international industry, software engineering and application development are not regional in nature. Culture, socialization, localization, and international computing and communications standards are some of the topics covered in the course.
A graduate in software engineering will have a wide range of technical and employable talents, such as sophisticated IT skills, analytical capabilities, communication, creativity and invention, independence, logic, numeracy, project management, and organization. The need for knowledgeable, talented software developers is only increasing. A shifting economic environment, which is being molded by the rising need for computing technology solutions, facilitates this.
